So, so so. My mind is crazy and I can't really concentrate on anything which is crumby because I actually have a couple of things I need to do before I leave. I have my visa which rules. Lizzy was a sport to drive down to San Fran with me. We found a place to stay through Air bnb which was cool and our first time doing that! Our place was in Oakland and we stayed with a fabulous guy named Jason. The night we arrived, Lizzy and I took the BART (train) to downtown Berkeley. We walked around and eventually stopped at a vegan restaurant called Herbivore. Yum. Tasted pretty good after a 10 hour drive. Probably would've tasted just fine without the 10 hour drive though. The next day we woke up early, jumped on the Bart and mozzied on to San Fran. I'm sure San Fran is a great city, but I didn't like having my first experience there being to get my visa. I had a somewhat difficult time finding the places I needed to be, but I managed and everything turned out okay! The Consulate office was in a giant, marble-interior building. I somehow got there 10 minutes before my appointment. A woman sitting next to me asked me about going abroad because her son, who was sitting right next to her was there for the same thing. Totally met someone in my program already so that was reassuring and a little comforting. I also met to charming women who were sisters. They had lived in Chile until they were 10 years old. Their names were Klaudia and Anntonette. They filled me in with advice and information regarding Chile and encouraged me to go to their cousins arabian restaurant (Sahtein) in Santiago. They even told me everyone's name...so I think I will try to mozy on over there at some point.
